Jonathan Drouin’s Agent Goes Public With Trade Request From Lightning

Tampa Bay forward Jonathan Drouin, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 draft, has requested a trade from the Lightning, according to his agent, Allan Walsh.

After Drouin was sent to the AHL for more playing time on Saturday, Walsh made his trade request public in a statement sent to ESPN.com and other outlets Sunday.

“On behalf of Jonathan Drouin, I formally requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Lightning back in November. We have not said one word about this untenable situation publicly until today,” Walsh said in the statement. “It’s in everyone’s best interests that Jonathan be allowed to move on and play hockey.”

The 20-year-old Drouin averaged 14:07 of ice time in 19 games this season for the Lightning, registering two goals and six assists. He was a healthy scratch for most of Tampa Bay’s run to the Stanley Cup finals last spring.

“Let’s be clear, Jonathan loves playing for the fans in Tampa, he loves his teammates and many people within the Lightning organization have treated him well. It was his sincere intention to play in Tampa for many years,” Walsh said in the statement.

In 89 career games with the Lightning, Drouin has six goals and 34 assists.
