Warren Sapp reportedly fired by NFL Network

Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp was fired by NFL Network after his arrest early Monday in Arizona on charges of soliciting a prostitute and assault, according to a report by SI.com.
Sapp, 42, was in Phoenix as part of NFL Network’s Super Bowl coverage team. After first reporting he’d been suspended indefinitely without pay, SI.com’s Richard Deitsch reported “Sapp’s contract has been terminated and he no longer works for NFL Network.”
Sapp is the second high-profile TV sports personality arrested on solicitation charges in recent weeks. NBA analyst Greg Anthony was suspended by TNT and CBS after an arrest on similar charges last month in Washington.
Sapp was a 7-time Pro Bowler as a defensive tackle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders from 1995-2007. He was voted into the Hall of Fame in 2013 in his first year of eligibility.
Sapp was arrested on domestic battery charges in Florida in both 2010 and 2012, but charges were dropped in both cases. He also got into hot water with NFL Network executives after referring to former New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey as a “snitch” during the team’s bounty controversy in 2011 (an incident for which Sapp later apologized).
